Working together to improve wellbeing

Representing the collective voice of our community, South Glos Parent Carers (SGPC) are on a mission to work with you to shape great services and achieve positive change for children and young people with SEND in South Gloucestershire.

Information you can rely upon

Through various engagement work in the community, SGPC gather feedback from families on their lived experiences of using health services in the area.

We obtain valuable insight into how parent carers view the services provided by health providers, covering topics including:

  • Community Paediatrics

  • Social Emotional Mental Health Services (CAMHs & OTR, etc)

  • Therapy Services (OT, SLT, and physiotherapy)

  • Autism & ADHD Services (the Autism Hub & BASS, etc)

  • Nursing Services (school nurses & health visitors, etc)

  • Universal Services (GP & Hospital Services, etc)

  • Medical Needs Services (wheelchair & continence, etc)

Stronger together

SGPC works with the Bristol and North Somerset parent carer forums under the umbrella of BNSSG to represent the lived experiences of our parent carer community in feeding back the collective voice to service providers.

SGPC offer a range of services to health providers, including:

  • sharing your information with our parent carer community

  • designing surveys

  • collating, interpreting and presenting data

  • producing professional reports

  • producing and running webinars supporting parents to help meet the needs of children and young people

The SGPC provides the new Integrated Care Board (ICB) with a vital link to parent carers in the local area without which it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, for the Board to meet its SEND responsibilities especially around engagement, participation, and co-production at both an operational and particularly at a strategic level. The exposure and understanding of family lived experiences provided by the forum is essential to service developments...
