Parent Voice

Ensuring your views and experiences are heard

…working together

for positive change

What is Parent Carer Participation?

This is a collaboration between Parent Carers and Professionals – working together in co-production to design, shape, and improve local services for SEND children.

Should I Participate?

Your contributions are so important. As a Parent Carer, you can help pinpoint problems frequently experienced by families with SEND children. This knowledge can be used to shape services and ensure they are fit for purpose.

But don’t just take our word for it – hear from some Parent Carers who have already participated…

Making a Difference

Why should I join my local Parent Carer Forum

How Can I Participate?

Parent Carers of South Gloucestershire can participate by joining our forum – South Glos Parent Carers (SGPC).

SGPC’s community members are all Parent Carers of SEND children whose aim is to make sure the services in our area meet the needs of SEND children and their families – and you can participate by simply sharing your views with us.

You can share your experiences and raise your voice in the following ways,

  • through our engagement events and activities

  • completing surveys we conduct

  • volunteering to help share our collective voice

  • by providing feedback at any of our events and training that you attend.

By sharing your lived experiences and feeding them back through SGPC to the service providers and stakeholders, you are participating and helping to raise the collective voice of our community in order to form and shape the services of the future.

What is Co-production

  • Co-production is about working together right from the start to shape and create services that meet the needs of the families using them.

  • It is the process of gathering the views of local families and then working together with local authorities, education settings, health providers and other service providers to highlight what’s working well, or challenge when and where changes or improvements can be made and problem solve together.
