Vision & Mission
Our reason for being.
From humble beginnings we have grown.
South Glos Parents and Carers was formed in October 2009 when 3 parents of children with additional needs got together wondering how they could make a difference and improve the lives of SEND families in South Glos. In 2013 we became a Community Interest Company.
From the original 3 members in 2009 the community now has 1187 parent carer members on our database in 2019.
Our main membership and social media following is growing daily. Our Facebook page created in 2009 now has 1,730 followers.
In 2013 we created a closed Facebook group for virtual 24/7 peer to peer support, currently we have 658 members.
South Glos Parents and Carers Membership Growth
We are reaching and representing more and more voices of South Glos SEND families and the opportunities for and impact of our efforts to work co-productively with services and offer support is ever growing!
What We Do.
South Glos Parents and Carers is one umbrella covering two areas of focus.
Particpation & co-production
At South Glos Parents and Carers we work to create a strong community by promoting the voice of parent carers through co-production and participation with services such as education, health and social care to improve access to and experiences of said services for our SEND community.
We recognise alongside the need to work towards improving SEND services that families need different types of support that can be accessed in different ways. Alongside representing our community’s voice, support is a very important aspect of what we provide. Being parent carers ourselves, we have an in depth understanding of the issues we face; from the challenges, to the joys our children bring.
Our Vision & Our Mission.
