Sell-out workshops, community support and sensory fun.
Our new community base launched in February as part of our 10 year celebrations. This fantastic, accessible space with its lovely garden and the spectacular sensory room has enabled us to bring our community even closer together.
Our First 6 Months.
In the first 6 months we have achieved a lot! We partnered with the Wellbeing College to run a 6 weeks Mindfulness and wellbeing course, to help our parent carers relax. Then our own training team comprising of parents and professionals; delivered a series of excellent courses to help parent carers support their children with anxiety, challenging behaviours, physical disabilities and complex needs.
We have worked with Supportive Parents, Mencap and Sense who have come into the base to support our community in finding the best opportunities for their children. Our transitions team have also joined us monthly to share their knowledge on various routes for transitions from secondary education and beyond.
Our popular finance workshop
We were joined by Charted Financial Planner; Rhiannon Gogh for a very popular finance workshop tailored specifically to the considerations parent carers need to make when setting up wills and trusts for their children.
New and familiar faces have come along to our Thursday open drop in sessions, relaxing and sharing their own knowledge and experiences with each other. We have had crafts, gardening and pampering activities available for parent carers to make the most of some essential time to themselves.
We have also enjoyed seeing lots of you with your children and they have had fun exploring our garden area and relaxing in our sensory room, where they are mesmerized by the lights, bubbles and infinity mirror.
It has been fantastic to see our community coming together to make this space our own and we are excited to continue this next term with more training, drop in opportunities and activities planned.
