South Glos Council moves from an ‘Inadequate’ rating to ‘Requires Improvement’.
You may recall in November 2017 the OFSTED Children’s Services report released found the local authority to have an overall rating in this area of inadequate.
It feels very special that within the year that we celebrate our 10th anniversary and the year we realised a dream of launching our very own Community Base, we should be nominated for such a special award.
We have had a number of comments from our families about concerns and frustrations they have had with school and college transport
We know how stressful this is for families and especially how it can really cause or has caused already massive anxieties for our children.
We hear from so many of you about what isn't working well with the EHCP annual review process, one huge bugbear is poor communication. The local authority with our help is looking at all the issues we are raising about what is not working well and breaking down all the stages of the process to see:
South Glos Parents and Carers have been attending meetings with Keith Thompson of the Department for Education and Paul Spencer of NHS England and the South Glos local authority. The purpose of these meetings is to monitor the written statement of action in response to the Ofsted and Care Quality Commission inspection.
You might recall that SGlosPC reps were speaking to and giving a presentation to paediatricians at the launch of the Autism Care Pathway that had aims to better support families, improve and dramaically reduce the diagnosis process. We wrote about that event here if you want a reminder.
We have not been resting on our laurels as we found out that despite the well intentioned plan, our families were not seeing any improvement to waiting list times and the support they had been receiving as families. We have reps attending the autism working group who have been feeding back your concerns
