The Care Act 2014 comes into force on the 1st April 2015, and puts carers’ rights on the same legal footing as the rights of people needing care.
The Children and Families Act 2014 also gives new rights to children who have a disabled adult in the family, and to parent carers. These new rights include the right to an assessment. We expect to see more assessments which look at the needs of a whole family together, and to see support put in place that recognises their interrelated needs for support.
